Exactly one year ago, our team embarked on an exciting journey by releasing ProtoPie commercially. It’s been a hectic but tremendous year during which we introduced seven significant updates and even won a Red Dot Award in the category Interface & User Experience Design.

We are proud to tell you that designers from nearly 60 countries adopted ProtoPie in their workflow, showed their continuous support and provided us with valuable feedback that we will use to make ProtoPie an even better product in 2018.

We put together a list of essential features released in 2017, a year that’s only the start of an awesome journey.

Preview

Previewing prototypes in real time became possible in ProtoPie Studio 3.0.

Preview was the most requested feature among our global closed beta testers. We implemented the Preview feature allowing you to run and test prototypes on desktop and mobile in real time.

Sketch Import

ProtoPie ensures a seamless workflow between interface design and prototyping.

One of our goals was to make sure that ProtoPie could ensure a seamless workflow between static designs and interactive prototyping. We wanted you to have a flawless experience in which you have the freedom to go back and forth between Sketch and ProtoPie. Hence, we’ve added Sketch Import enabling you to import and re-import designs into ProtoPie whenever you like. This year, we would like to offer similar integrations with other design tools.

ProtoPie Cloud

Be on the lookout for our revamped Cloud features this year.

Designers make high-fidelity prototypes in ProtoPie not only to validate ideas before production but also to share ideas quickly with fellow designers, clients or stakeholders. That’s why we launched ProtoPie Cloud, a quick and easy option to store, share and run prototypes anywhere, anytime. It has version and control and helps in collaborating with fellow designers. We are working on a revamped ProtoPie Cloud, ready to rock in 2018.

ProtoPie on Windows

The easiest high-fidelity prototyping tool on Windows.

Until ProtoPie, there has been no hi-fi prototyping tool on Windows empowering designers to create highly interactive prototypes with the same ease and quickness ProtoPie offers. Following one of ProtoPie’s design principles — Using ProtoPie should be a seamless experience and no system limitations should be at play.

3 New Triggers & 4 New Responses

New Triggers and Responses enriching expressiveness.

As the idea is to go beyond creating interactions for mobile user experiences, ProtoPie should offer a wide portfolio of triggers and responses used to compose all kinds of smooth digital interactions. Hence, 3 new triggers and 4 new responses have been added throughout the year expanding your possibilities on interactions.

Recording

Record your prototypes directly in Preview. Just like that.

Sharing prototypes can be done in multiple ways. Co-workers, stakeholders or clients could have ProtoPie Player on their devices and play around with your prototypes that you sent them via your preferred messaging service, ProtoPie Cloud or directly from ProtoPie Studio through the QR-code or USB connection.

A different way is to record your prototype and its interactions in ProtoPie Studio, and simply share an mp4 video with whomever you want. This is a feature we added in ProtoPie 3.6, the latest update of 2017, as we wanted to give you an even wider array of options on how you can share your work with others.

A whole bunch of smaller features for better productivity

We always do our best to find a balance between expressiveness and productivity when preparing for a new update on ProtoPie. Therefore, we’ve been able to implement a bunch of small features for the sake of better productivity. Also, features related to editing layers or handling artboards are similar in usage compared to design tools you are familiar with, avoiding confusion while maintaining a gradual learning curve.

Thank you, Pie Lovers!

The year of 2017 has been an exciting one for our team thanks to you support and gratitude. We believe that your encouraging and overwhelming feedback made ProtoPie better gradually. Moreover, many thanks to members of our Early Access Group, User Testers, and meetup participants for their effort and excitement. We’ll continue our journey in 2018 by continuously improving ProtoPie for you.

New cool features are in the works. Stay tuned.

Much love from Team ProtoPie.
