UPDATE: What’s written below still stands. But it’s much easier now to import text layers and SVG layers as vectors with the ProtoPie plugins for Figma and Adobe XD. Learn more about the ProtoPie plugins.

Hello everyone, teacher Leah Han is back with a new ProtoPie tip that we are sure you might be interested in, as we usually receive emails about this matter!

A lot of users import their designs from Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma to ProtoPie. However, after importing, all assets will change to an image, which means you can’t edit them anymore.

So, to solve this issue, we added two features into ProtoPie: Convert to text and SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files.

Let’s start!

Convert text

If you want to edit some texts after importing your design.

  1. Select the text.
  2. Click the “convert to text” button on the property panel on the right side.
  3. Then the image will change to a text layer.

Now you know how to convert texts, but how about graphics? Let me show you how SVG files work!

You can add SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files into your scenes and scale them without losing one single pixel! SVG files can be converted into shape layers, and thus edited for specific properties such as color, border, and shadow.

  1. Select a shape that you need to edit in the graphic design tool.
  2. Copy the shape’s SVG code and paste it on ProtoPie.
  3. Click “convert to shape.”
  4. Then you can change its color and even add color-changing action to it.
